What are some specifics about the operational version of UW-NMS?

General info about UW-NMS

The model starts each night around 11:00 PM CST (04 UTC) and finishes a 48 hour forecast by around 7:00 AM CST (12 UTC).

The model grid dimensions are as follows:

Radiation and convective parameterization tendencies are computed on each grid every half hour.

To finish in a reasonable amount of time, operational version of UW-NMS uses a scaled down version of the gridscale microphysics parameterization, where only rain and snow are activated.
