UW-NMS Grid Nesting
- There are two nesting options:
- 1. Multiple two-way nesting.
- Any number of nests may be implemented, using Clark and Farley nesting scheme.
- All inner grids may move along prescribed path or
follow a particular feature such as lowest sea level pressure.
- 2. One way nesting within a specified model or gridded data set may be used for outer boundary condition.
- The outer nest is provided by independent simulation or analysis stored in history files.
- Local fields are temporally interpolated from the "outer" simulation or analysis.
- The outer simulation is incorporated into model by lateral and
vertical absorbing layers with specified timescales of relaxation.
- Lateral boundaries may additionally have a radiation condition for fast moving
outward propagating waves.
